Classically trained and primarily a figurative painter, Ruth Jatib O’Connor’s work explores themes of light, color, emotion and place. Her landscapes are inspired by her travels, most often capturing the late-evening glowing skies of places such as Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Maui, and Italy.
Ruth earned her M.A.T. in Art Teaching from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. She co-founded O'Connor Art Studios, LLC, in 2013, envisioning a space that combines a top-notch working studio with community engagement. Currently based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Ruth remains dedicated to her studio practice, with her work collected by private patrons. She also works as an educator and continues to explore the connections between art, environment, and emotion.
